Hi! I’m a 42 yr old female with severely recessed chin! I’m looking into Invisalign for my teeth, but realize I won’t be happy until I fix my chin as well! I’m not sure if A chin implant would be enough or if I need the sliding genioplasty?! I prob could get a double jaw surgery but don’t want to get that involved! :(((( please any opinions!!!!!!
Answer: Chin surgery Both may be considered when the chin is recessed. A genioplasty can advance the chin 9-10 mm while a chin has limits of 6-7 mm. So it depends on the amount of advancement required in your case. I would recommend simultaneous jawline and submental liposuction.

Answer: Genioplasty 100% I think you would benefit greatly from a genioplasty. This is a permanent procedure that allows us to pretty much put your chin in whatever position you like. By bringing it forward and down, it would create more definition and length to your jawline and add balance to your profile. It will help to tighten the skin under your chin as well. You will get more benefits with a genioplasty, and I almost always recommend it over an implant because it is more versatile and predictable.

Answer: Chin implant / Submentoplasty Hello. A chin implant can help you, but sliding genioplasty doesn't have to be your only solution. A large size implant around 15mm can also be placed. But I recommend you to have a submentoplasty for the fat in your submental area. I’m the only triple board-certified facial plastic surgeon all around Europe. I’m just focused on this issue. I am a doctor who goes to almost every country in the world and explains my techniques to important doctors with the seminar invitations I receive, so I am definitely the only doctor who can perform your operation very comfortably and successfully. You can get more detailed information about me, ask all questions about your case and sending your photos to my assistants at the number on my profile (+90 539 204 40 90). You can also book an online consultation and discuss your problems with me. With all respect.

Answer: Would I benefit from a sliding genioplasty versus chin implant A sliding genioplasty is performed by an oral surgeon in a hospital setting under general anesthesia with an overnight stay. It's much more invasive, and is usually performed when the teeth are significantly out of alignment. Sometimes both the upper jaw the lower jaw have to be done. In our practice, placement of a chin implant is performed under local anesthesia as an outpatient procedure. We place the Chin implant through a small submental incision. A chin implant will have no bearing on the way the teeth fit together.

Answer: Get an accurate assessment first Good aesthetic procedures always start with an accurate and competent assessment. I would definitely consult with oral surgeons regardless of what procedure you choose. Alternatively if you find plastic surgeons with craniofacial surgery background who do the same type of procedures and that would work as well. John advancement would be ideal but regardless you would benefit from a sliding genioplasty Or any form of augmentation of your chin. It is however not just a weak chin but also a small mandible so talk to those who specialize in assessing these conditions which tend to be oral surgeons.Best, Mats Hagstrom MD
