Can Botox fix nocturnal lagophthalmos?

Hello, thank you for your question. Botox would not help you with your condition, there are specific treatments for this. I recommend you to schedule a consultation with a specialist for proper evaluation. 

You need to find a cornea specialist to help you with your dry eye. A general ophthalmologist treat dry eye but they often are not that interested in treating dry eye. So it is very helpful to work with someone who actually likes treating dry eye. An assessment by an oculoplastic surgeon may be helpful and there are individuals who benefit from surgery but start with medical treatment. 

Thank you for sharing your question.  Unfortunately without more information it is difficult to offer advice.  That said I do not think Botox is the answer.  Speak with an ophthalmologist to discuss your symptoms and find better treatment options. 

Botox could help with your condition but it is not a great treatment for your problem ! Unfortunately, injecting Botox for this could likely cause droopy eyelids during the day! Things to consider would be an external weight that uses double stick tape to attach to your eyelid - this would be worn only at night. Using  ointment at bedtime in your eyes may also help.

I agree with my colleagues that botox is unlikely to be the solution to your problem.  You may want to seek the advice of an opthomologist.  Most likely, they will advise treatments that can keep your eyes moisturized through the night if you have incompetence of your lids.  They may also recommend different means to protect your eyes over night, such as chambers.  Finally, there are some procedures, such as the placement of gold weights in the lids to help keep them more closed, but they are usually reserved for conditions that endanger the eyes.  Best of luck with your assessment and treatment.

Thank you for your question. In general Botox is not indicated for this condition. There are other things that can be done to help you close your eyes when you’re sleeping. Since you are in Maryland I will be glad to see you to evaluate the cause and look for a corrective action and treatment
