Will the outcome of the hysterectomy affect my tummy tuck results from four years ago? (Photos)

Although there will be access points needed to perform the mechanically assisted hysterectomy that will leave very small scars, other than that there will be no effect on the results of the abdominoplasty.

Dear Lawanna,   Thanks for posting your before and after pictures and congratulation on what appears to be very nice outcome.    Your hysterectomy has to be done for medical reasons, so there is no way to avoid it. From all types of hysterectomy techniques, the on that you chose - laparoscopic hysterectomy with DaVinci assistance, has the least deleterious effect on your tummy tuck surgery outcome.    This is obviously my opinion, but it will be in your best interest to discuss this issue personally with your Gynecologist and bring up you concerns.                      Best of luck,                                 Dr Widder   

Thank you for sharing your excellent question and best wishes on your upcoming procedure.  The minimally invasive approach of either a robotic or laparoscopic hysterectomy should not impact the long-term results of your tummy tuck.  You will have a greater degree of bloating initially during recovery but this should improve quickly.  Hope this helps.

You will have small scars from the hysterectomy procedure but it should not impact your tummy tuck results once you have fully recovered. The surgery will not cause you to gain fat and the muscle repair should remain intact. I encourage you to discuss your concerns with your surgeon.

This is a good question, and in short, a hysterectomy done for medical reasons will not adversely affect your tummy tuck results. Placement of the trocar sites (where the laprascopic instruments are placed) is important as they will leave visible scars on your abdomen. That is not a big deal, but if you do not want to have incisions in visible areas of your nice Tummy, you may want to consider a traditional hysterectomy as an open approach through the middle portion of the long incision that you already have. My wife is a gynecologist and we had hers done this way. There were no extra scars after the hysterectomy surgery and she healed up so well that you can’t even tell anything was done. Just a thought. Hello and thank you for your question. If you have had a TT the lap hysterectomy should not undo your muscle repair unless they need to convert to an open procedure. I would discuss this with your plastic surgeon as well. Best Wishes
