Thank you for sharing your excellent question.  Vollure and Defyne can lead to very similar results and incorporate well into tissues.  Be sure to see a board certified ASPS plastic surgeon specialist in lips to ensure the best results.

Some people respond better to one or the other but ultimately they are both in the same category. I would try whichever one your doctor recommends and try the other one the second time around and see which one you prefer. Overall any hyaluronic acid should give you your desired result if injected properly.

Hi there. Vollure and Defyne are both considered "off label" for lip augmentation, which means that in formal testing of these products, the lips were not studied. 
That being said, I have used Vollure successfully in lip lines for 15 months now and it is one of my favorite products in this area. However, there have been instances of delayed nodule formation with this product.  This is a potential complication of all fillers, and the lips seem to be a common area for this to happen. 
In terms of comparison of these two products, Defyne will be more "bulky" and provide more augmentation than Vollure if equal amounts are injected. Longevity should be similar between the two, but this can vary patient to patient.

Today, I avoid using any of the Vycross fillers (Voluma, Vollure, and Volbella) from Allergan because of this reported increased risk of inflammatory nodules. When treating the lips, I choose between Restylane Silk, Restylane and Restylane Refyne/Defyne depending on what look the patient is going for. Restylane Defyne is a good alternative to Vollure. It gives a very smooth result because of its gel flexibility and integration with the skin.
