It is not uncommon to experience itching of the scalp where the new grafts were placed. At 2 1/2 months you are early in the growth process. In a lot of cases the hairs don't even begin to grow until the fourth month. But I suspect this is due to the new growth beginning. While the itching is most like due to the new growth it would be wise to visit your transplant surgeon to have the scalp evaluated to rule out other conditions.
Hello! What you are experiencing is the new hairs growing in. Some patients say it feels like a tingling sensation or itching. Be sure to follow up with your surgeon to track the progress of the hair growth:) Congratulations!
Patients can typically expect the beginning of noticeable growth at 3 months post procedure. This may account for the sensation of itching/tingling.Many of the transplanted follicles will shed the hair shaft and proceed from resting to growth phase in the weeks following your procedure. As the new shaft begins to emerge, some patients report new sensations of itching/tingling.As always, discuss your concerns with your board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS) with experience in hair restoration.Donovan Rosas MDBoard Certified by the American Board of Plastic SurgeryMember: American Society for Aesthetic PlasticSurgery, American Society of Plastic SurgeonsRealSelf Top 100RealSelfHall of Fame
Hi and thanks for your question. Yes, I agree with the other surgeons that this sounds completely normal. Healing skin is inflamed and this causes itching and nerves regrowing causes tingling. Good luck.
It may take 6 to 12 months to see the results of a hair transplant surgery. If you are concerned it is best to discuss it with your doctor.Itchy scalp is not typically a sign of hair growth.
This is a combination of nerve regrowth and hair growth. The insertion sites cause a small amount of trauma that in some patients can lead to several months of itching as healing progresses. If there is any change in the appearance (bumps, redness) please see your surgeon soon. Otherwise, you can use Benedryl at night to help with itching.
Yes this is a good sign that your new hair is starting to grow. The tingling and itching is a normal sensation.
Hairtransplantashley,Thank you for the question. I would recommend an in person visit to your physician. While this may well only be resulting from the start of the growth phase of the procedure other conditions can cause itching and tingling should be excluded. A good physical examination, and dermoscopy can rule out any inflammatory conditions like LPP, etc....
Thanks for your question. After hair transplantation , hair growth start around three months, six months after transplantation patients can observed growing transplanted hair, one year after transplantation most of the transplanted hair follicles can be observed. Apex of the scalp (vertex) is the latest area that hair follicles grow. And yes during this healing period patients can feel ıtchy and tingly. Be happy with your new hair.
Thank you for your question. It is not unusual to have itching and tingling when the transplanted hair start growing. Please do not scratch the area and talk to your surgeon about all your concerns. All The Best !
Thank you for posting this question. A hair transplant surgery does literally nothing to stop the inevitable progression of hair loss. Hair loss is a lot like dental decay....in 3 important areas:1) both are incurable2) both are progressive in nature3) both are with you for lifeSo, the most lik...
It is very possible to place within existing hair growth. One factor is the quality of the existing hair and the density. If this hair is miniaturised or fine to any great percentage it maybe better to ignore the hair and place directly over. This can also depend on the area to cover and the...
