I had Botox in the masseter a week ago and I have just noticed I a not able to smile properly on one side. This has happened right before my 21st birthday and is massively affecting my confidence. I loved my smile dimples before I simply wanted to slim the jaw line. Will it even itself out in a few weeks time or do I just have to wait for it to wear off?

Answer: Botox in masseters and uneven smile When masseter muscles are injected with Botox the result should be a more relaxed jaw, with less masseter muscle contraction, and a narrower facial appearance. One side could have responded more to the Botox or it could have migrated a little and affected your levator muscle (the one that lifts the side of your mouth on that side). The good news is that it will wear off in the next 2-3 months. Dr. Anna Sylwestrowicz MD, FRCP(C) Victoria, BC

Answer: Asymmetric smile after Botox It appears that your injector inadvertently injected some Botox into your left zygomaticus muscles. This will slowly resolve in the next few months.
