Can I take off my tape for a few hours a day after rhinoplasty?

Each doctor has his/her own protocol for what you should do following surgery.  There is a reason that your doctor put tape on your nose so I would strongly suggest that you leave it in place unless he tells you otherwise.  It would not be right for anyone not participating in your care to advise you otherwise.

i'm sure every surgeon has a different postoperative routine and rationale for it. It's not that one is wrong and one is right. It is always advisable to follow your surgeons instructions.   I typically don't retype after the first week, however I have in certain situations. Additionally, there maybe more danger in you trying to remove the tape as opposed to having somebody your doctors office do it.  I'm more curious why you feel like you cannot contact her surgeon.  Part of picking your surgeon is to find somebody you're comfortable enough to call if you have questions or concerns.  

I doubt if I would want to go to school with tape on my nose either! Frankly, I'm not sure if there is any long-term benefit of nasal taping longer than one week postoperative. Study hard, and I hope you like your new nose. My best. Dr Joseph

There is no substitute for your surgeon's instructions.  I would not want to go to class with tape, but for a better cosmetic result, I would if that's what it takes.  My advise is to do whatever your surgeon suggest.
