Dear Adam,Since you're only 24 days post-op, you can count on the individual scars left behind by the FUE procedure are going to continue to get smaller and fade for the next 6-8 months. They will be in their final state and size and color at 12 months, or about 11 months from now. Regarding how short to cut your hair, that depends a lot on your hair shaft diameters; the thicker the individual hairs, the shorter you will be able to cut your hair. It differs on a person-to-person basis. I would let it grow out until you can no longer see evidence of the FUE procedure, then when it's as long as you can stand it, go to your hair stylist, and have them go a little bit at a time. Then, you'll reach a point where the FUE work is still visible, and that's where you stop. If you're using a clipper, remember the clipper number. Go one clipper number higher next hair cut. As the next 11 months pass, the area will progressively fade, and you will be able to cut your hair shorter and shorter.
If the FUE was performed with an instrument less than 1mm in diameter, you can cut as short as a #1 blade. However, this depends on your skin type and hair texture. You have fine hair and have pale skin that stays relatively red for a long time, you may have to keep it longer. In addition, if you had a FUE "megasession" of over 2000 grafts, you may have to keep the hair longer.
At 24 days post surgery, you can cut your hair with a #1 clipper, but leave enough hair that it does not appear 'shaved'. There will be scars from the FUE that measure about 1mm each, but these will not be seen if there is short hair in the donor area as that is the risk from a social point of view. Healing should be complete at 24 days.
Usually after three weeks post op you can get a hair cut. If you want to camouflage your donor area, you would probably need to have hair half an inch to an inch long to cover it.
Dear Mojo Jojo,I believe you're talking about survival rate of the grafts transplanted. Typically the shedding takes place from week 2 through week 6 or 8 following the procedure. You're well outside this window, so I would not expect you to experience a great deal of shedding of the...
Dear adamsammutmtThanks for the question. Although you do want to protect your scalp from the sun after surgery, avoid wearing hats for the first couple weeks. You can get back into the routine of getting a haircut about three weeks after your surgery. If you dye your hair, you can do so again ...
Hi there, Great question - you can definitely ride your bike after 10 days as long as you are wearing a cap to protect the new follicles that were implanted. Please keep in mind, that we do always recommend that you consult with the doctor that did your procedure before making a...
