Loosing 10 kilos (22 lbs) after a tummy tuck ?

It is best to be at a stable (ideally normal) body weight prior to having tummy tuck surgery.  If your weight decreases substantially you may develop loose skin.  That stated, I have had several patients lose weight after a tummy tuck and retain their good result.  It depends on skin tone and how much weight is lost in a given region.

The patients that continue tools weight after a tummy tuck look better than those you do not.  The tummy tuck is an operation that is planned based on the position of the belly button and the pubic hairline.  Weight loss after a tummy tuck should not mean that you will need a revision.  

Many patients have an abdominoplasty and then lose weight after the procedure.  It will have minimal effect on the outcome.

Thank you for your question.  In general, I advise my patients to lose as much of their excess weight as possible before surgery.  While you may look OK losing weight after your tummy tuck, it is possible that you will have a looser final result than if you lose the weight first.  As a tummy tuck is an elective procedure, I typically recommend that patients have the surgery when they are at their healthiest; which is with the excess weight off.
