1 year post-op. Is my bridge collapsing? (Photo)

Question

I know i have an open roof on side of the nose and the other side seemed kinda closed, i could always obviously feel my septum on my bridge tho, i don't know if that's normal, but now on the other side i also start to feel a bigger slid next to my septum. I'm 1 year postop, is it going to open even more or start collapsing? My surgeon hasn't been any help

Hello and thank you for your question. Unfortunately without being in the operating room at the time of your surgery, it is impossible for me to know exactly what was done to your existing bony/cartilaginous structural framework and comment on the thickness of your skin envelope. What I can say is that after rhinoplasty (nasal surgery), the nose can become REALLY swollen, and this swelling can take a LONG TIME to resolve (up to 2 years to fully resolve). During this time, healing and scarring are also occurring, and these forces can shift or distort both the underlying framework or the overlying skin, sometimes in ways that are not fully predictable. I would recommend that you continue to observe things for now and keep open communication with your operative surgeon. You are still only 1 year post-op, so ultimately you should still wait to see what your final results will be. I constantly remind all my rhinoplasty patients how important it is to be patient after rhinoplasty surgery as it can take up to 2 years to see what the final nose will look like. I hope this helps!
