My internal incision scars are pretty thick and have white and yellow spots on them, and because my alars are retracted they are super obvious, can i try silicone scar sheets or something to try to lessen them?
Answer: Silicone sheets for internal scars after a rhinoplasty Thank you for your query. Silicone sheets will be difficult to use inside the nostrils but silicone nasal inserts are available that can be used to improve the scarring. Regular massages can also help. Do discuss your concerns with your surgeon. All the best.

Answer: Silicone Scar sheets for internal incision scars Hello, Silicone scar sheets are primarily designed for use on external scars rather than internal ones. They work by creating a protective barrier that helps to hydrate and soften the scar tissue, which can improve the appearance of scars on the surface of the skin. For internal incision scars, which are often located deeper within the body and may not be directly accessible, silicone scar sheets aren't typically used. Internal scars, or adhesions, are generally managed through other methods such as physical therapy, massage, or in some cases, surgical intervention if they cause significant problems. If you're dealing with internal scarring and concerned about how it’s affecting your health or comfort, it's best to consult with a healthcare provider who can recommend appropriate treatments or interventions based on your specific situation. It would also be important to consult with your doctor.

Answer: Scar I don't really see the thick scar inside your nostril? But you could also have your surgeon inject steroid directly into those scars. That would be much more effective than attempting to stick silicone onto something inside your nose!

Answer: I don't believe that silicone sheeting is feasible for the inside of the nose. If I had to guess, it appears that your rhinoplasty surgery is longer than 6 months ago. I'm not sure that there is any topical cream or other preparation that you could put on a nasal scar to minimize its appearance at this point. It is conceivable that you may be a candidate for a permanent non-surgical nose job to lower your nostril margins so that the inside of your septum is less visible. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr Joseph

Answer: Alar retraction Hello and thank you for your question. Silicone sheeting will not work well for that type of scarring. A much better option for you is to undergo a Revision Rhinoplasty with appropriate treatment of your alar retraction to give much less nostril exposure. Scar revisions could be performed at the same time. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G.
