I had a breast aug. 5 days ago. I was expecting constipation, but not to become impacted. After finally having a BM and it being the equivalent of childbirth .. I'm concerned about the strain that trying to relive myself put on my implants!! I've checked my incisions and they're fine, no bleeding . Just worried about my implants !
Answer: Constipation after surgery Thanks for your inquiry and excellent question. I am sorry you suffered and glad things are moving. If your breasts feel good and look good then probably everything is fine. Call your plastic surgeon if you have any concerns. In order to help other people who will read this answer, I have a few comments. I recommend patients start a stool softener days before surgery and continue while they are on narcotics. It is best to stay hydrated before surgery and avoid constipating foods like beef. After patients have had surgery, if they are not moving their bowels within a couple days, I recommend they use some Miralax or Milk of Magnesia as I direct them. Finally, if patients are still struggling sometimes we need to use enemas and suppositories. In summary, constipation is no laughing matter and good surgeons should be asking about your bowel function and patients should voice their concerns to their doctor if they are constipated. Good Luck to everyone having surgery!

Answer: Implants and straining from constipation It's not uncommon for patients to be constipated, but no one has ever ruined her results by straining. Don't worry. The implants and your breasts are not that fragile. I have patients that pick up their toddlers by the third day after surgery to transfer them to a car seat or crib. More than 90 percent are back to work in an office setting by the fifth day.

Answer: Straining because of constipation should have no effect on your breast implants. I don't think you have anything to worry about. If something looks amiss reported to your plastic surgeon but otherwise I think you can forget about it.
