Hi! In 2020, I had a revision rhinoplasty after the 1st left me with a pollybeak. During my revision, I also had a lip lift to improve asymmetry from hemifacial microsomia. Now, my alar seems retracted & nostril is 'pulling my lip back down', causing more asymmetry. I'm at a loss. :/ My doctor is genuinely great and skilled, but my results seem to be falling short. How does one know when to give up vs. when to ask our surgeon for more help? I am nervous to politely address :(
Answer: What you need to know about any revision surgery Thank you for your question and I am sorry you are unhappy with the results of your initial surgery. While it may feel uncomfortable, it's important to have an open and honest conversation with your surgeon if you're experiencing issues following your revision rhinoplasty and lip lift. While some degree of swelling and asymmetry is common in the early stages of healing, persistent issues after several years may require further surgery or alternative treatments. Always choose an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon for any procedure, particularly one as complex as revision rhinoplasty, to ensure the best possible results.

Answer: Second opinion consult It is alweys good to look for another opinion when your surgeon is out of ideas how to achieve further improvement. Hemifacial microsomia is always challenging condition and it is almost impossible to achieve great symmetry and balance. Second opinion consultation with 1-2 experts in rhinoplasty is recommended. Good luick.

Answer: Alar retraction/revision rhinoplasty/lip lift I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing concerns with the results of your revision rhinoplasty and lip lift. It can be challenging to know when to bring up concerns with your surgeon, but it's important to remember that open and honest communication is essential in achieving the best possible outcome. It's understandable to feel nervous about addressing your concerns with your surgeon, but it's important to remember that they want you to be happy with your results and may have solutions to address your concerns. It's important to approach the conversation in a respectful and non-confrontational manner. You can start by expressing your appreciation for their work and asking if they can help address your concerns. When it comes to deciding whether to continue seeking further help or to give up, it's important to remember that revision surgery is often more complicated and has a higher risk of complications than the initial surgery. However, if there are still concerns or issues that have not been resolved after discussing with your surgeon, it may be appropriate to seek a second opinion from another qualified plastic surgeon. Overall, it's important to take the time to fully consider your options and weigh the risks and benefits of any additional procedures. With open communication and a collaborative approach, you and your surgeon can work together to find the best solution to achieve your desired results. Best of luck !
