Does a lower body lift typically include liposuction of problem areas i.e. hips, thighs or does the "lift" itself take care of the excess deposits of fat?

Answer: LOWER BODY LIFT AND LIPOSUCTION A lower body lift or belt lipectomy is 3 procedures performed during the same operative session – a tummy tuck, an outer or lateral thigh lift, and a buttock lift. I do include liposuction of the abdomen with an abdominoplasty and liposuction of the outer thighs with a lateral thigh lift and liposuction of the hip area with a buttock lift. Removing the excess skin and tightening the lower body does not always remove all of the stubborn fat deposits that are under the skin. I feel liposuction in conjunction with the other procedures is necessary to provide the best possible result of a body lift. Liposuction of other areas such as the flanks, knees, or medial thighs is not included with a standard lower body lift but can be performed at the same time as the body lift to further enhance the result. For example, liposuction the back and flanks area would further enhance the waistline and the buttocks after a body lift. Since a body lift is in itself an extensive procedure, you must be healthy and a low risk for anesthesia to be a candidate for any additional procedures to be performed with a body lift. Be sure to research only board certified plastic surgeons and then schedule a consultation to determine if you are a good candidate for a body lift.Be well and good luck!@norrisplastic

Answer: Lower Body Lift Most plastic surgeons refer to a body lift as a circumferential body lift = belt lipectomy. This procedure is essentially 3 procedures in one: extended tummy tuck + waist/lateral thigh lift + buttock lift (with the option of buttock augmentation). Liposuction is commonly utilized as an adjunctive procedure if needed during a body lift. Please visit with a plastic surgeon certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery to learn more about your options.Best wishes,Dr. BasuHouston, TX
