I’m 21 years old, currently around 140/145. Starting right in December was 175. I’ve been having difficulties with my stomach and arm fat and had looked into liposuction and cool sculpting (I wish they were tighter). However, due to EDS, my skin is elastic. I was wondering if liposuction or other fat loss treatments would cause my stomach to look even more “deflated” with loose skin or would the skin not be effected that much. Thank you :)
Answer: Liposuction with Ehlers Danlos syndrome? I was wondering if lipo would cause my stomach to look even more “deflated”? Liposuction is possible in patients with Ehlers Danlos as long as they don't have excess sagging skin already. Liposuction can remove some fat, but based on your pictures, you don't have much excess fat except maybe around your umbilicus and a little on your upper arms. Liposuction will not tighten your skin and patients with Ehlers Danlos won't get much skin tightening with non-surgical skin tightening devices-remember, these devices all create an injury under the skin that your body then heals by making more collagen and elastin. Even after surgery, Ehlers Danlos patients (there are 13 different subtypes) tend to develop recurrence of stretchy skin because they do not have normal structure to their skin and connective tissue. Even the milder forms of Ehlers Danlos have skin that will stretch more than normal.Bottom line, you can consider liposuction, but it may not give you the results you're looking for if tighter skin is really your goal.

Answer: Liposuction in Ehlers Danlos syndome There are 11 types of Ehlers Danlos syndrome with varying degrees of skin involvement. You appear to have the classic type with hyper-elastic skin. If you underwent liposuction, it is likely your skin would not contract. You do not have much fat and would not recommend liposuction. Best Wishes,Gary Horndeski, M.D.

Answer: #Liposculpting what kind of EDS do you have? there are at least 7 different types of it. some affect the skin more than others. with that said, Liposuction is not contraindicated in patients with EDS. its just that it may not look so smooth if the kind of EDS u have is mostly limited to the skin and soft tissue. worst case, u might need the loose skin to be excised either at the time of Lipo or later. personally i would do it later.

Answer: Liposuction Candidate with Ehlers Danlos syndrome--VASER HI DEF 4D Liposculpture, ThermiRF, fat grafting You should be able to have good results with liposuction. For best results, I recommend a hi definition procedure like VASER liposuction. I use VASER HI DEF with ThermiRF and fat grafting to get the most fat removal, skin tightening, contour and definition. This combination will give you the most toned result. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a hi definition physique expert. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: Liposuction with Ehlers Danlos Syndrome eg311. I appreciate your concern, however I do not think liposuction would worsen your skin condition secondary to Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. However, the combination of your young age and the excellent result you have already obtained with just diet and exercise, I do not think you need liposuction. I recommend a continued diet and exercise regimen. Best of luck.
