I had liposuction two weeks ago and I was asked to wear my compression socks for 7-10 days post. Does that sound right? I am at risk for DVT.
Answer: Compression socks Thank you for your question! For my patients having liposuction, I recommend they wear the compression socks for the first week post op. I recommend discussing specific post op questions with your plastic surgeon. Best of luck!

Answer: Compression Garment Question-Ask Your Doctor & After care includes RF treatments (Venus Legacy, Exilis Ultra) Cellutone/zwave I recommend following up with your Doctor about their protocol regarding compression. I have my patients wear compression for 3-6 weeks straight then overnight for 3-6 months after their procedure. For liposuction after care, I recommend adding hyperbaric oxygen and lymphatic massage along with your compression to help decrease swelling. To improve your final results, I also recommend adding vanquish for further fat removal, exilis/venus legacy for skin tightening, cellutone/z wave to make the skin smooth, remove scar tissue, and improve the skin’s appearance. Best, Dr. Emer

Answer: How long to wear compression socks after surgery Generally we recommend wearing compression socks for a week following any cosmetic surgery procedure lasting more than 2 hours, or 1-2 weeks for any lower body cosmetic surgical procedure (leg liposuction, abdominoplasty, etc). During the first week after surgery your ability to be up moving can be somewhat limited, and swelling that occurs in the lower legs can put you at greater risk for blood clots forming in the large veins of the lower legs. Please ask your Plastic Surgeon at your first post-op visit if it would be appropriate to discontinue the socks.

Answer: Compression socks Congratulations on your liposuction, Snowflakes1014. I suggest that you follow the instructions that your reputable and board-certified plastic surgeon gave you, especially if you’re at risk for DVT. It’s also best to consult him once you decide to stop using your compression socks just to be on the safe side. Good luck!
