Hello Docs- I'm 3 months post op. For personal reasons I'm without a PS. 2 weeks post op the incredible incision pressure behind right ear 'let go" and incision began 2 creep down and stretch, then SORE and raised to hypertrophic scar. Now all incision lines behind ears same. Waiting for clobetasol cream from Canada (who can afford $300 USA). Should I wait til scars mature 2 seek steroid injections? Using cortisone cream and sunscreen. Please view my other question. My GP keeping eye on me.

Answer: Hypertrophic scarring behind the ears It definitely looks likes on the picture that you have hypertrophic scars. It is not uncommon behind the ear in face of surgery to develop hypertrophic scars. I usually see my patients in my practice monthly for the 1st couple of months after surgery, and we used injections of steroids to make the scars improve. Qwerqwe11

Answer: Scar You scar will improve with time. Be careful with the steroid injections and I'm not sure that topical steroid will help at all. I would suggest that you wait for now and at the 6 month mark, if you are sill unhappy, seek a scar revision consultation from another board certified surgeon in your area. Best, Dr. Nazarian

Answer: Hypertrophic scars during healing after a facelift. The scar will probably significantly improve with time. Steroid injections should be done judiciously to avoid scar spreading. I'm doubtful of the benefits of topical steroids.
