Yes, gummy bear implants do cost more. The silicone inside the Gummy Bear implant is slightly thicker than the silicone inside regular implants. It was designed this way in order to help the implant maintain its shape. Because it is slightly thicker, the implant feels slightly more firm to the touch. You will have an opportunity to touch and feel the Gummy Bear implant during your consultation. Gummy Bear implants are an excellent option for many patients. The advantages include its natural shape, possible decreased risk of rippling, possible decreased risk of capsular contracture and the greater number of options for shapes and sizes. Its disadvantages include the risk of rotation and greater cost. During your consultation, I will discuss all of the implant options with you. Together, you will select the best implant for the result you desire. A thorough consultation with a board certified plastic surgeon will allow you to communicate what your desired result is and will inform you as to what is possible to achieve your goals. We have a device called the Vectra 3D imaging system that shows you what you will look like with any implant. Our patients are very happy with the choice of implant they make when using this system. To learn more about how to choose the right size implant, you can read "A Comprehensive Guide to Breast Augmentation."
The short answer is yes- "gummy bear" or fifth generation implants cost more than the prior generation "responsive" gel implants. We currently have 4 types of gel implants available for use, which allows us to perform highly individualized surgery. Combine this with 5 profiles (amount of projection) and dozens of widths (and even saline)- we literally have over 1000 implants to choose from! More choices equals more personalized results!! So exciting
The simple answer is "yes."Gummy bear is a term coined by the media which does not specifically imply any one particular type of implant. However, it has generally come to represent form stable implants which represent the highest point on the cohesive gel scale. Most devices today are cohesive gels (meaning the fill is less free flowing and more likely to remain within the confines of the shell if compromised). Each device is a point on the continuum (ranging from softer to stiffer. The gel in a form stable device is of such a high cohesive factor that it maintains a shape. These form stable anatomic gels are what most consider "gummy bear" implants. With regards to your question, form stable anatomic devices are more expensive than traditional round gels. That being said, most patients do not necessarily need a "gummy bear" device for a cosmetic augmentation. As always, discuss your concerns with a board certified plastic surgeon (ABPS).
Yes, they do.A great option to consider is the IDEAL Implant which combines the best of gel and saline-- at a better price point. Soft, natural along with the simplicity of saline!Plus, you won't have to worry about an expensive MRI study for checking for possible leaks. "Gummy Bear" is a term used to describe Cohesive Gel implants. These implants are a little firmer than standard gel implants. Their advantage is that they hold their shape better, especially in the upper part of the breast. In addition, they are less likely to result in visible rippling. They are used in anatomical (teardrop shaped) and round implants. Allergan has a line of gel implants called Inspira. Within that product line, they have three gel options that differ according to how cohesive the gel is. They call them Responsive, Soft Touch and Cohesive Gel going from least "gummy bear like" to most. The third potential advantage of the cohesive gel implants is that if the shell leaks, the gel typically stays inside the implant and doesn't leak out. The answer to your question is the the Gummy Bear implants do cost more than the other silicone gel implants. It is best to speak to your PS about what he or she recommends for your specific anatomy and goals.
Thank you for sharing your question. Due to their thicker interior gel texture gummy bear implants do cost more than other implants. Hope this helps.
Gummy bear implants do cost more than other silicone implants. They are made with a more cohesive gel. They can feel firmer. Your Plastic Surgeon can will be able to discuss if you need this type of implant.
The term gummy bear refers to an implant with a highly cohesive silicone. These can be smooth and round or shaped and textured. A thorough consultation with your surgeon will help you determine if they are right for you. They do cost more than regular silicone implants
Thanks for your question. Cohesive or 'gummy bear' implants are more expensive than the round responsive (regular silicone gel) implants. One supposes that this is due to the longer time the devices require for manufacturing. The silicone has been heated longer for greater cross linking thus creating a device that has the consistency of a jelly bean as compared to gelatin. This allows the device to be cut and retain its shape as one sees on the photos provided by the manufacturer.
The true gummy bear implants do cost more. They are the most cohesive silicone. They do have some advantages but may not be needed in all cases.
There is a very small difference. If you want to be a full C at most bra stores the 350cc is a safer choice. The 350 will make you a D at Victoria secret. Most patients after a year post op say they could have gone a little bigger. Read below how to size implants:
Thank you for the interesting question ... the toddlers are so cute and fun but they have no empathy when it comes to mom trying to recover from surgery. The main concern is if there was enough trauma to cause bleeding, which may affect the aesthetic outcome. Barring that it is...
It all depends . Are you starting with an A cup, B cup or C cup and then adding 325 cc. Do you have a 32, 34 or 36 band? Do you buy at Macy's or Victoria's secret? Review in person with a board-certified plastic surgeon for best advice.
