Candidate for a second closed rhinoplasty? (Photos)

Question

Hello.I had a closed rhinoplasty many years ago. He was just supposed to make my nose less bulbous on the tip and more refined. My nose looks exactly the same. Would it be possible to get another closed rhinoplasty or just go ahead and get an open one? My fear is the nose collapsing due to scar tissue. I have always disliked my nose. Most experienced rhinoplasty surgeons would do your nose with an open approach. That way the surgeon can see exactly what needs to be done, and can make very precise moves to lift and refine your nasal tip. As long as plenty of cartilage is left and simply reshaped, you won't have to worry about collapse. And the incision to open the nose heals very well so it's not a concern. Be sure to see a rhinoplasty expert for consultation.

Based on your photos you appear to have thin nasal skin, with a slightly droopy tip, and a small dorsal hump. There are no Stigmata of previous nasal surgery. If you have severe dissatisfaction with your nasal appearance, please consider meeting with several reputable rhinoplasty specialists so you can see what might be best for you moving forward. Not all revision rhinoplasty surgeries are the same. Based on the photos that you have provided, it appears that you would be an excellent candidate for some revision work on your nose. How that revision work is performed, either open or closed is not really the issue, but which approach your surgeon is most comfortable with should dictate that approach.

Hello and thank you for your question. Based on your photographs, you are a great candidate for a revision rhinoplasty. Maneuvers for your surgery would include dorsal hump reduction, tip refinement, nasal tip deprojection, tip elevation, among other maneuvers. This should be done for the best and most predictable longterm results. With good surgical technique, you could have an outstanding result. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
