I have my patients eat their normal balanced diet prior to their surgery to maximize the healing process. Liquids only aren't necessary. I would also suggest that you check with your surgeon because I also recommend discontinuing many supplements prior to a tummy tuck. Good Luck!

Thank you for your question. I do not recommend a liquid diet prior to surgery, I recommend high protein diet if anything. Check with your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon what their protocol is for dieting prior to surgery.

A liquid diet is not necessary before a tummy tuck because it is not an intra-abdominal surgery and there is no operating near the intestines. While you may become a bit constipated from taking narcotics after surgery, a pre-operative liquid diet would not help with this. Best of luck with your procedure!
