Hi doctor, I am 61, 5'1", 112 lbs. I had a TT w/ab muscle repair about 12 years ago. A few years ago, I found that I had itching at the top and bottom of where the muscle repair was completed. Now the skin where it itches has turned brown. The itching is the worst when I lose a few pounds. What could be causing the itching any my skin turning brown?
Answer: Brown Sometimes a brown discoloration occurs when an old hematoma breaks down and is left to absorb. The red blood cells break and the iron pigment is deposited into the tissue. This does not go away.

Answer: Itchy skin Dear xpgmmsb1, I understand your concern. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice. Answer: Itching/brown skin on tummy 10+ years after TT. What could be causing this? Itching and changes in skin color, such as brown skin, near a tummy tuck scar many years after the procedure could be due to various factors. It might be related to scar tissue, skin aging, or even an underlying condition. It’s important to consult with a healthcare professional to evaluate your specific situation and provide appropriate advice or treatment options. They can examine your skin and medical history to determine the exact cause and recommend the best course of action.

Answer: Chronic itching and skin discoloration in supraumbilical area 12 years after abdominoplasty Hi and welcome to our forum! From your photo, I note vertically oriented ill defined area of brownish discoloration in the supraumbilical area.I am unable to ascertain if the lesion is the cause of the itch, or if the itch (with resulting scratching) may have caused the lesion.Chronic inflammation may present with this picture. There is a degree of suspicion about the previously placed deep fascial sutures.A visit to a dermatologist may be required to determine the nature of this lesion (and hopefully eliminate it). A plastic surgeon may ultimately be required to treat it if required.Best wishes...
