Is it a bad idea to continue with a rhinoplasty if I am also considering midface implants in the near future? (photo)

Question

I have a tip deprojection septo-rhinoplasty on the horizon & I am also going to request a tip rotation to bring my nasolabial angle within the normal male range of 90-95 degrees (currently 87). I also have a bit of a flat, elongated maxilla I believe was caused by mouthbreathing due to my deviated septum. I was considering getting a custom midface + infraorbital combination implant but I'm worried this might change the overall look after the rhino or bring things out of proportion.

Thank you for your question and the photo you provided. Septoplasty is an ideal solution for addressing a deviated septum. When combined with a cosmetic rhinoplasty procedure, the appearance of the nose can be balanced with the other features of the face.
Being that your surgical intervention is for both health and cosmetic reasons, it is best to undergo septoplasty/ rhinoplasty first. After the recovery period, you’ll have a better idea of how your newly-shaped nose looks with the rest of your face. At this point, you’ll be able to make a better decision as to what further cosmetic changes you desire, if any. I recommend that you schedule an in-person consultation with an experienced, board-certified facial plastic surgeon to address your medical needs and aesthetic goals.

In a situation like yours, you are likely to get the better answers by using 3-D imaging and simulations.

It allows you to visualise a combination of changes in the appearance of the nose and the volumes of the face and makes it less likely to misrepresent the effect that such treatments would have on your features.

The alternative would be to start with the rhinoplasty intervention and evaluate how is the changes the overall balance of your facial features.

It is possible to do a short lived simulation of the effect of facial implants using injections of saline solution. It is very important to understand whether facial implants are the right answer for you as removing the implants inpatients that do not like the effect does not restore the original shape.

Hello there! I can see what you're referring to on your photos. I think you'd benefit from both, though it may be wise to undergo rhinoplasty first to see how the nose now fits with your face. It can be challenging to change too many parts at once especially if in close proximity within the face. After, you may very well need cheek implants, though the size requirement and shape may change. Hope this helps you!

Having a rhinoplasty is a good idea before having permanent facial implants. The change in the nose will give you a new look and will help you re-think about the need for an implant. A fat injection or fillers might be just enough for your face, as implants come with their risk package. So having these in sequence will help you analyze the changes and give healthier decisions.
Rhinoplasty does not block you from having malar implants in future.
