Will throwing up damage the nose cartilage structure created after a rhinoplasty?

Question

I know that stomach acid can dissolve things so I was wondering if puking every once in a while when sick causes harm as some stomach acid ends up coming up through nose? I mean there's nothing you can do about it I suppose but wondering either way and maybe there's some way to mitigate damage if it does happen...? Just wanting to protect the investment! Thanks for any advice.

It is not likely that it going to affect your nose because the lining in your nose is separate.

Infrequently, people may be nauseated after rhinoplasty surgery and vomiting ma occur. This does not affect somebody's final result in our 25 year experience. I hope this helps. Sincerely, Dr. Joseph

Hello and thank you for your question. It is certainly advisable not to intentionally try to vomit after rhinoplasty. The increased pressure can also increase swelling in the nose. I recommend that you seek consultation with a qualified board-certified rhinoplasty surgeon who can evaluate you in person.
