Platysmaplasty and tongue/breathing issues

Question

I had a Platysmaplasty almost 4 years ago and I still have neck pain, tightness, breathing issues and feel the back of my tongue pushing and blocking my upper airway since I had it. I can't reach the doctor that did my Platysmaplasty at the moment and I would like to know if it is possible to undo it.

There’s no undoing surgery done 4 years ago. It sounds like you have issues probably unrelated to your platysmaplasty. I suggest seeing an ENT surgeon who can evaluate your tongue and upper airway complaints. All the best!

Sometimes there can be over-tightening of the neck structures. Especially if the mylohyoid or digastric muscles were also tightened in the addition to the platysma muscle. If you do not have the ability to return to see your original surgeon...I would go see a board-certified plastic surgeon (with plastic surgery residency and aesthetic fellowship training) for a consultation. You may need a surgical release of the structures (if they were over-tightened). There may also be other causes such as sleep apnea. You really need to see a specialist in this matter.
