Hello. I am 25 years old. i have lost weight and plan to lose some more. But my stomach fat has been very stubborn, even at lower weights. I do not have children, but may want to have some someday. So I would like to avoid a tummy tuck now. Is lipo by itself worth it for me? And can the lipo be performed with general anesthesia? I am okay with some loose skin.
Answer: Liposuction of the abdomen under general anesthesia Hi Fantastic954434, Based on your photos, history, and stated goals, I would say that you are a great candidate for abdominal liposuction, particularly the upper/lower abdomen and love handles. In our practice, we perform 'awake' liposuction under tumescent anesthesia with IV sedation as well as 'general' anesthesia with patients completely under anesthesia. Both techniques have pros and cons, and a discussion with your surgeon can help you determine which method would be most appropriate for you. Good luck! -Roger Smith, MD, FACS

Answer: Answering question "Needing only liposuction" When looking at your photos, it appears that you have some lax skin as well. If you are able to grab your fat from right below your bellybutton and pull it upwards towards your breasts, that is a sign that your skin has been stretched and now has some laxity to it . Going in and only doing liposuction would leave you with excess skin in which case we would suggest a full Tummy Tuck. We do like to factor in a person's age, weight and skin quality as well when making these decisions. Reminder that we are only basing a response off of these couple photos and being seen in person for a consultation with a licensed professional is always the best way to distinguish any future procedure as well as determining what is the best option for you.

Answer: Liposculpting Hello, my name is Dr Igor Burko, and I am a Plastic Surgeon at SY Aesthetics in NYC. Based on your photos, you do have some excess abdominal fat and skin. If you are fine with some loose skin, then liposuction is an option for you. In addition, skin tightening technology, such as Renuvion J Plasma may offer you an additional benefit during liposuction to help your skin contract.

Answer: Abdomen You would do well with liposuction to remove the excess fat. Renuvion could be added to help tighten your skin if desired. This could be done under general anesthesia or under local with some oral sedation.

Answer: Liposuction of Abdomen and Flanks Based on your photos, you have good skin tone, which makes you a suitable candidate for liposuction of the abdomen. To achieve a more comprehensive and harmonious result, it would be wise to also consider contouring the flanks to ensure a smooth transition from the stomach to the sides. This procedure will not impact your plans for future pregnancies. Additionally, it seems you are comfortable with the possibility of some skin laxity, should it occur following further weight loss after the surgery. Dr. B.
