Still can't feel sensation in my nipples 8 months after surgery. Will the sensation return?

It has been 8 months since my breast lift and augmentation and I'm still having trouble feeling sensation in my nipples and on certain areas of my breast. My nipples do respond to stimulation (hardening when rubbed) however I cant feel them being stimulated. I can also feel pain if they are pinched really hard. But I do not feel much of anything when they are rubbed which has been frustrating. Will the sensation return?

Sensation changes after breast lift and augmentation are not uncommon and can take time to improve. Nerves may need more time to heal completely, and it's possible that sensation may gradually return over the coming months. However, it's essential to discuss your concerns with your surgeon, as they can provide personalized advice and guidance based on your specific situation.

numbness is very common. It depends on the operation but often times sensation can return in a couple of weeks, a year, or not at all. Nipple sensation itself is very important and can sometimes be lost with breast surgery. This is often mentioned in the risks of the consent process. I imagine your numbness is just temporary although I would have to examine you.

Typically, it can take up to a year for your sensation to return. Past a year, it probably won't. this is a risk of breast augmentation and lift surgery.

I'm sorry to hear of your concerns about nipple sensation.  Change is sensation can occur with breast surgery.  Typically it returns within a year.  If you still have not noticed improvement after that time the change may be permanent.
