Open incision after 6 months (Photo)

Question

I went to my surgeon last week as my incision opened up and it is about a nickel size. My Doctor said there was nothing to worry about and to put neosporin on it. Now 1 week later another spot has opened up and I’m getting really scared. I have emailed the surgeon waiting for a response. Should I got to the Er?

I understand your concern. Based on your photos, there is a chance that you have sutture spitting. However, without a proper assessment, it would be difficult to determine what went wrong. It is best that you visit your plastic surgeon for further assessment or ask for a second opinion. Only after a thorough examination, you can get proper recommendations and advice.

Small open areas like the one you show are common after a lift and will close on it own. It is worth finding out from your surgeon if there is a stitch in the that needs to be removed

You may be trying to spit out some internal sutures. I would do what your surgeon asked and make an appointment to see him/her.  The ER will probably not do much for you and make you wait a long time to be seen.  You can also go to your primary physician, but he/she will probably send you back to your surgeon.

The photos of the open areas you submitted are often associated with suture knots that need to be removed.  This is done in the surgeon's office and require minor home care.  Once the suture is removed these areas tend to heal up well.
