I'm 35, healthy, relatively active, and have ALWAYS hated my square/flat butt and my high square pelvis (see photo with pointing to them) My measurements are: BUST: 34” WAIST: 28.5” HIPS/BUTT: 39” My hips are already pretty wide, I don't want to get any wider... How much projection / buttock roundness can I expect? I'm also already pretty slender and actually like my body/tummy... do y'all think I have enough fat to harvest from back/bra/arms for a BBL?
Answer: BBL candidate Dear LAGinger, based on your photos, you look like a good candidate for a BBL. Liposuction of your abdomen, back and flanks should give you more curves and hourglass shape and fat transfer to buttocks should give you more projection. I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon because only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Lipo + BBL Candidate Thanks for the question. In this regard, I recommend you waist and back Liposculpture, getting better curves especially in the waist, improving your body contour. Finally, I suggested take the fat we get and transfer to the buttocks and hips, to mold them and get better volume, contour and butt projection, is that we know as "Brazilian Butt Lift" (BBL). Kind regards

Answer: What BBL projection can I reasonably expect with a high/square pelvis? You are correct - you need t gain 20-40 pounds for fat to be enough for a good result in my opinion. Best to seek in person or virtual consults with only private practice boarded PSs not clinic ones. Dr B out..

Answer: Straight versus curved bodies The difference on women who have curvy bodies is primarily based on their skeletal structure. if you look at women who have those ideal projected crazy curves and follow the line of their spinal column in comparison to a straight line of where there femur or thigh bone goes you’ll see that they don’t intersect in a straight line. And curvy people the whole pelvis sits back because of the curvature in the lower spine. When that curvature isn’t there the spine and the femur create almost a straight line. Creating excessive curves by simply adding fat to a straight body is not the same as being born with a curvy skeletal structure. After a while it starts looking like exactly what it is a straight body with too much fat on the buttocks. In your case expect more of a modest result because that’s what’s going to look natural and appropriate for you, Obviously results and the approach vary immensely depending on who does the procedure, Different doctors have very different ideas of how these should be done and the skill and experience varies just as much. There’s no reason you can’t have a great BBL outcome. To get a good understanding of what results will look like I suggest searching through lots of before and after pictures trying to find patients who have very similar body shapes and types to your own in the before pictures. do this during in person consultations at which time you should ask providers to show all of their BBL results. an experienced provider should have no difficulty showing 50+ sets of before and after pictures. A very experienced provider will have several hundred. Those who have been working on this procedure for much of their career may even have a few thousand. Make sure after pictures are taken a minimum of 3 to 6 months after the procedure and don’t show surgical markings, a surgical suite in the background or evidence of early bruising etc. early results are not at all predictable final results both in regards to Liposuction mistakes and fat transfer final outcome. Arms give great Liposuction results when done by experience providers but will most likely not contribute more than 250 mL a fat per side. I view the torso as a single anatomic unit and typically either treat all of the Torso or Don’t treated it all in order to leave people with a thin even natural fat distribution. I recommend patient avoid spot treating the torso. Arms and back alone is not enough fat for a BBL but if you treat your full torso which there’s no reason not to you have enough for a good result. You can certainly include your arms if desired or needed. The following is a list of general recommendations for those seeking cosmetic surgery. It seems particularly appropriate for this type of surgery. 1. I recommend patients avoid traveling long distances for elective surgical procedures. There are of course instances where there is a lack of local talent and traveling to some degree is inevitable. If traveling for the procedure patients should be ready to travel to have the consultation, post operative appointments and follow up should there be issues or complications. Patients sometimes do not appreciate the importance of in person consultations, that complications do happen or the number of people who have issues with their results or need revisions. 2. Schedule multiple consultations with different providers in your area who seem to have a good reputation for the procedure you’re interested in. Starting with at least five consultations seems like a reasonable number to me. 3. Whenever possible schedule in person consultations. 4. During in person consultations ask each plastic surgeon to show all of their before and after pictures for the procedure you’re interested in. The goal is not to see the best results of their career but to get an idea of what average results look like and get some type of confirmation of how many of these procedures that provider has performed. Ask to see results that were not as good as the doctor would’ve hoped for and talk about the differences in outcomes. Honest and experienced providers should have no problems presenting this type of information. A highly experienced plastic surgeon should have hundreds of before and after pictures for the procedure you’re interested in. At a minimum at least 20+. 5. Read all the reviews on various physician review websites paying close attention and avoiding providers with any significant number of justified negative reviews. Providers with an abundance of reviews often have aggressive marketing campaigns. The plastic surgeons I respect most all have the single variable of not having justified negative reviews on their online profiles. In my opinion justified negative reviews are far more telling than an abundance of positive reviews. 6. Avoid scheduling for surgery or making a deposit on the day of the consultation. Give yourself some time to think about the decision and make sure you finished all scheduled consultations before committing to having surgery that will permanently and irreversibly change your body. When in doubt slow down and schedule more consultations. Choosing the right plastic surgeon is the single most important variable to having a positive experience. 7. Don’t go chasing after technology or names of certain equipment. Instead focus all your efforts on finding the most experienced and talented board-certified plastic surgeon. Best, Mats HagstromMD
