Am I supposed to be responsible for the cost to dissolve Restylane when my physician messed it up? (Photo)

He injected Restylane on my left nasolabial fold, causing it to tilt down and now my face looks very uneven. It's very noticeable. I already paid $1,350 (this is with 10% off) for 2 syringes of Restylane. I was in pain. And it makes my face look way worse than before. :(

Thank you for posting your question and photo. Sorry to hear that you had poor results with Restylane injections. The injector should probably treat the problem for free, but not return any money since the procedure was performed and material was used. Make sure you go to an experienced injector in the future. Hi Maxie. That's a tough question and there is no single answer.  If you are going to a different injector to have the product dissolved then you would have to pay for it.  If you are going back to the previous injector then it's possible that your injector will grant you a free reversal if you request it.  On the other hand, if your injector believes that you achieved a good outcome and just have changed your mind, then they may request that you pay. Each physician has their own financial protocol. I use hyaluronidase to dissolve filler. My suggestion is you go to someone you trust with a good reputation.  Complications can happen that doesnt mean you leave the person completely.  I do suggest going to someone who specializes in fillers and uses cannulas for injection (this prevents irregularity, burising and swelling).  Best, Dr. Emer.E

I have never had a need to dissolve any injectable that I have given.  The cost for Restylane is about $400 and I avoid 2 syringes.  Injection technique and experience is crucial.  I was trained at UCLA and also Brazil and Restylane was available years before it was approved in The U.S. So I have a lot of experience.  You should feel at ease with your doctor like a friend that has your best interest in mind.

Hyaluronidase injections are an excellent way to reduce unwanted or undesirable hyaluronic acid filler.  Filler results can vary person to person and based mainly on the skill of the injector.  Make sure to seek out an expert physician in facial injectables for these treatments to obtain the best outcomes.  Some physicians charge for hyauronidase injections for their patients and outside patients.  Many physicians offer it complimentary if there is something that needs to be corrected from their own work.  If you are not comfortable with your care, always seek a second opinion.

I'm sorry to hear that you are unhappy with your Restylane treatment elsewhere, but unfortunately this is not uncommon.  Every office policy is different, but it's probably best to express your unhappiness with your injector and see if he will address your concern.  With fillers, the most important thing is the skill of your injector and his/her knowledge of the facial anatomy to get you the results you seek.  Please consult with a board certified specialist who can assist you in achieving the results you seek. 3-dimensional computer imaging can also help you visualize what you may look like afterwards and serve as an important communication tool with your surgeon.

Thank you for sharing your photo.  I am sorry you are not pleased with your final outcome.  The good news is you had a hyaluronic acid filler (#Restylane) injected.  You will be able to have the area fine tuned or completely dissolved with #hyaluronidase.  In my practice, we strive for 100% satisfaction.
