It has been almost 7 days since I had 2 liters of fat removed from my abdominal region by way of SmartLipo. Since, the blood has moved into the pubic area and collected, swelling the area. Do I need something to compress the area for the blood to go away at all or is it fine? It's not painful but a little discomforting when I sit because of the pressure in the area.
Answer: Pubic bruising after abdominal lipo is not that unusual Bruising usually travels downward due to gravity. Blood in the fluids that are released by your body as it heals can make it's way to areas beneath the treated sites. Swelling will improve by laying down with a pillow under your buttocks frequently. Bruising will resolve spontaneously in a few weeks. Arnica cream helps.

Answer: Swelling and Bruising in Groin Some people bruise and swell more than others and it is expected for the gravity to pull the blood/fluid to the pubic area and genitals. I suggest continuing your compression, taking arnika forte, and giving it time. IPL or pulsed dye laser can help resolve this more quickly, but it sometimes takes 2-3 weeks to fully go away. As long as there is no pain or large fluid collection this should be a normal finding. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Swelling and bruising follow the law of gravity Your mons (pubic area) sits below the level of your compression garment, and it's also the most dependent area when you're sitting. I often have patients add a one-piece garment that compresses the pubic area, then apply their binder over that garment. You might try SPANX with your binder over the SPANX. Check with your surgeon to see what she suggests. This looks normal, by the way.

Answer: Swelling after lipo By law of gravity, after liposuction in the abdominal area the swelling will move south. You can ask your surgeon if he suggests using any additional compression to that particular area to treat the excessive bruising. You're only 7 days out and this is totally normal. Thank you for your question and for sharing your picture.
