How to slim sides of mouth? (Photo)

Question

I have fullness on the sides of my mouth. I am not sure if this is buccal fat or jowls. What would be the best way to reduce the volume in this area and get a tighter appearance? I am 41.

Need to see whole face and skin texture do decide. Buccal fat removal may be an option. But may need more than that such as a facelift, necklift, etc. Buccal fat reduction relies on good skin elasticity and if there is a lot of laxity and soft tissue descent, buccal fat removal is not a good option.

On examination, buccal fat excess usually improves with pursing your lips.  Buccal fat may be removed from inside the mouth under local anesthesia or with sedation.
Jowls are related to skin and deeper SMAS muscle coating laxity.  When pulling upward on the cheeks, the jowls improve similar to a facelift or cheek lift.  Fillers can temporarily improve jowls and camouflage buccal fat.  Nonsurgical skin tightening devices like Sofwave can help lift the cheeks.

using a small cannula it would be possible to minimally reduce fulness around the lateral aspect of your mouth. It should be done very conservatively by a board-certified plastic surgeon with experience in such a procedure. Hope this helps.
