Question regarding buccal fat reduction and the aging process

F 21 - I've seen a lot of people hate on buccal fat removal or reduction. I have pretty big buccal fat pads and have had multiple surgeons tell me in person I'd be a great candidate for buccal reduction. But I'm worried because so many people say it makes you look older quicker or too hollow and age horribly... i don't want that at all. Is it true about the poor aging? Or is it more about how much is removed, and if you really are a good canidate or not?

Candidacy definitely matters. I saw a patient today who in general has a fuller face with softer bone structure that I felt would be a good candidate for buccal fat removal. In someone like her, because she already does not have a lot of definition to her face, removing some of that softness will help, even as she ages, because she has a lot of softness that can afford to benefit from adding defintiion. The people who look "too hollow"/aged are usually because more fat was removed than what should've been (or that they should never have had fat removed in the first place). It's all dependent on what else is going on in your face.
