Sculptra in right cheek. Two hours after injection napped for 2 hours. Got a deep crease line from the pillow. Will this smooth?

Had Sculptra in my face (right cheek) this morning. Got home two hours after injection and went to sleep for 2 hours. Woke up with a deep crease from my pillow right in the middle of the recipient area. Any general advice about this. For ex; how likely would it be for the crease line to pop back smooth...in general? Thank you.

I appreciate your concern. Keep in mind that Sculptra does not work like other fillers. This product is usually injected just under the dermis where it can stimulate more collagen production and produce a fuller, more youthful appearance on the surface of the skin. The process takes a few weeks or even months to complete. At this stage, you are likely experiencing some swelling from your Sculptra injections, which is why the crease appeared after your nap. Rest assured that as the swelling subsides, the line in your cheek will disappear as well. I advise that you massage your face with the general rule of fives after Sculptra to ensure even distribution: 5 times a day for 5 days for 5 minutes each time.

Hi mrmrs,As they say NTW, not to worry.  Most of the areas where Sculptra is injected are over bone, the injections should be deep and not affected.  We recommend deep massage for our Sculptra patients for 5 minutes, 5 times a day, for 5 days.  This helps to increase your circulation to the area and in turn helps your body break down the Sculptra particles and replace them with your own collagen.  Always best to contact your injecting physician with any questions or concerns.  Good luck and be well.Dr. PerskyEncino, CA

The pillow crease will not have an affect on the Sculptra. In the right hands, well-placed Sculptra will give you great results. Keep in mind, it takes 3-6 months to see results with Sculptra. Sculptra is a great product for improving facial volume and collagen building, but for best results, I recommend using it in a combination depending on desired results. I combine Sculptra with other fillers, lasers, toxins and skin care to give immediate results.

Sculptra is the type of product that gradually builds new collagen and takes months to reform the exact collagen the you want.  Sculptra needs to be massaged five times a day for time days for five minutes so sleeping on a pillow for a few hours will not make a difference.  All you have to do is massage the area that was injected with Sculptra.  Please consult an expert in Sculptra for the best cosmetic injection.  Best, Dr. Green

Thanks for the question on this topic. It’s important to recall that Sculptra is not a filler, and any immediate filling or swelling is gone in a few hours. As the water in Sculptra is absorbed, leaving the active ingredient behind, the crease and swelling around it will fade and disappear.
