Couple weeks ago I waxed my upper lip area and I kind of burned it. The first week it was read and it was burning. The second week it turned brown and smooth it wasn’t burning but There was a brown spot above my upper lip as if I have a mustache. Third week it turned dark brown and makeup does not cover it. I’m wondering would chemical peel help getting rid of that dark brown old wax burn. Or should I go for a laser. I don’t know what treatment I should consider. Please help
Answer: You can do aa combination of both a chemical peel and laser for best results Our treatments use combination therapy to improve the epidermis and dermis for most deep scars. The options available for acne scars depend on the character of your scars, in terms of topography and contour. We see atrophic and hypertrophic acne scars, as well as scars that have hypo and hyperpigmentation. We begin each scar evaluation with an assessment of scar quality and subtype. Our main concern is rebuilding collagen and that is why we use a HIDEF protocol that includes combination therapy. Morpheus 8, scar subcision, fibrous release, fractional laser, CO2 laser, Thulium laser, PDL Vbeam laser, and fractional resurfacing can be used in addition to TCA Cross and chemical peels to further improve skin. Patients should start Melarase AM and Melarase PM for active hyperpigmentation. Always begin with a consultation to decide whether early subcision should be started. Answer: Hyperpigmentation Thank you for your question. Since the trauma is so recent, I would recommend that you use Bio Corneum scar gel and sunblock. After 6 months you can evaluate the area.

Answer: Hyperpigmentation -- Peels (Cosmelan), Lasers (C+B, Aerolase, Genesis), RF Treatments (Venus Viva), Skin Care, Hydroquinone Hyperpigmentation of any kind needs a combination approach of peels like Cosmelan; lasers like Clear + Brilliant, Aerolase or Laser Genesis; radiofrequency like Venus Viva; and constant skin care and sun protection. Bimonthly facials with SilkPeel DermalInfusion are essential to hydrate, exfoliate and infuse vitamins and antioxidants into the skin. If you have acne you can do additional treatments and peels to get more improvement. Hypopigmentation will need more of an evaluation and possibly additional lasers to get improvement. I suggest a formal consultation with an expert in lasers and peels. Best, Dr. Emer.

Answer: Laser or chemical peel Dear suex16, every cosmetic treatment has indications. If you are considering a treatment, I would suggest you to consult a board-certified plastic surgeon. Only after a thorough examination you will get more information and recommendations. Answer: Hyperpigmentation It looks like you're having a bit of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) which is very common is people with skin of color. I would first recommend hydroquinone 4% cream nightly for 2-3 months with very strict sunblock everyday. This is most likely all that's necessary. Sometimes chemical peels are added afterward to enhance results. I strongly advise against using laser in this situation because it could actually make it worse. Make sure you see a board-certified dermatologist to discuss further. Good luck!
