Why is the result of SMP done on strip scar less predictable? Is there anything we can do to improve the results?

I was told the result of SMP done on strip scar is less predictable. What makes it unpredictable? What could be the worst scenario? What can I do to prevent it?

SMP works very well in appropriately selected patients. However, when it comes to  hiding scars the results can varied because of the scar tissue. If the scar is thick and raised it may not take the pigment well. Treatment to level the scar may be necessary before have trico-pigmentation. It is necessary to have an evaluation by a qualified specialist for best results.

The results of any procedure (including SMP) will be slightly different for each individual.  Predictability and expectations has to do partly with seeing a doctor for an assessment / examination.
