I have all my patients do velashape or venus legacy after their liposuction procedure and begin exercising and stretching (with or without massage) at 10-14 days after the procedure. There shouldn't be any scar tissue, and if you feel you are developing some I suggest speaking to your physician or getting a second opinion. Best, Dr. Emer.
Scar tissue is a natural process after any SURGERY, indeed. In general, it takes an average of one year for all sub-surface scar tissue to soften and "remodel" itself after any surgery. Liposuction is no different. However, I do suggest light massaging each day, once you can tolerate such. I do find that this greatly helps blood circulation through the scar tissue, helping it to mature and soften a bit quicker.Good luck with your upcoming surgery!Windell Davis-Boutte, MD
