Liposuction of these areas should be performed very small cannulas. Postoperative convalescence is extremely important with good compression hose and mandatory limb elevation important components.

This area requires a very meticulous surgeon with skill.  It is quite easy to do poorly and you should see someone with experience.  I use a number of tools for this area including water assisted tumescent (Aquajet) then SmarLipo for tightening and fat removal, and then power-assisted removal with the MicroAire device.  A combination approach gives a much better contour.  Seek a consultation with a body contouring expert whos practice is dedicated to this procedure and who does many of this area.  Best, Dr. Emer.

Liposuction of the calves and ankles does do very nice and swelling is easily managed with the right compression hose which we supply. When it is done correctly with the micro cannulas under tumescent local then you don't have those problems that you see with the gen. anesthesia or the larger cannulas.
