What are the Pros and Cons of securing an implant with a screw?

Question

I'm wondering what are the PROs and CONs of fixing a chin or cheek implant with screws? Is there more recovery time or pain with screw fixation? I'm worried about micro-movements with an implant that will erode the bone over time, which is why screw fixation seems like an attractive option. So, please what are the downsides to screw fixation of an implant?

I prefer to fix all chin implants using 1 or 2 mini-screws to prevent any possible movement or malposition. The implant will eventually become encapsulated and at that point no further movement is possible. I don't know of any cons to using mini-screws in the face. I use them for facial fracture repair and orthognathic surgery.... these cases usually receive 6-7 plates and over 20 screws with never a need for removal.

We have been performing chin and cheek implants for over 25 years without any screw fixation.  If the implants ever  need to be removed, it makes it much more difficult
