I'm getting a rhinoplasty and my doctor recommended I would benefit from a chin implant. I have an asymmetric lower face and a Slight receding chin. I'm worried it will make my face look more oval, have a witches chin and be more pointy at the chin . I want a more round face. Will the implant make my face more oval? And would I benefit from the implant in a positive way?
Answer: Chin Implant with Rhinoplasty Chin implants are frequently performed with rhinoplasty to ensure an aesthetically-pleasing proportion between the two features. In your case, it does appear your chin is somewhat recessed and a chin implant could bring the facial profile into balance. However, the size of the implant would be a critical determinant on whether you could improve your profile without detracting from your current facial shape. I recommend talking to your doctor in detail about your concerns and goals for your facial contour to ensure that if an implant is used, the size and shape are carefully chosen to ensure a subtle result that will meet your expectations.

Answer: Chin implant and facial shape It does appear from the limited photographs that you submitted that you do have a slightly weak chin based upon the profile and frontal photographs. That being said there are different types of chin implants that are both anatomic and extended and can make the lower face more oval or lengthen the profile. It can also fix any depressions in the chin as well depending upon the type of implant and where on the chin it is actually placed.

Answer: Chin augmentation with Rhinoplasty The relationship of the nose and chin / jawline is very important for facial balance and proportions. Your nose is slightly over projected while your chin is slightly under projected. In addition you have a significant prejowl notching. Therefore, you would benefit from a anterior mandibular augmentation (chin prejowl) to create smoother jawline. Please consult with an experienced facial plastic surgeon to discuss your concerns and options.

Answer: Chin Augmentation You do have some legitimate concerns about the effects of a chin implant in your face. You need to look at some computer imaging of what it can do and determine whether it can achieve what you want as well as avoid what your concerns are. Chin augmentation changes more than just the projection of the chin but also its shape...which appears to be where your major concerns with the procedure are.
