I am East Asian and I am looking to increase the height of my nose bridge. Would you recommend a PDO thread lift or fillers? From what I understand, (1) a greater height can be achieved using PDO threads, (2) there is less chance of migration of the product, and (3) there is a reduced risk of blindness and necrosis. What are the downsides of a PDO thread lift (asides from the higher cost)? Can it still lead to blindness (I assume not as there is no substance entering the arteries)?
Answer: PDO Thread Lift for Nose Bridge Hi and thank you for your question! While PDO Thread Lift can be a great procedure for specific indications, generally speaking fillers such as Voluma would be much better choice for reconstructing and raising the nose bridge. I hope it helps and good luck!

Answer: PDO Threads vs. Dermal Filler for Nose Hello JBridge. Even though we are very "anti-PDO Threads", we have never heard of any practitioner using them for the nose and fail to see how this could benefit you. If you are looking for the eyebrows to move upward at the bridge of the nose, then we would recommend Botox and potentially a browlift. Rather if you are looking to fill in the bridge fo the nose (what you see from the facial side view), then we would recommend rhinoplasty or dermal fillers. It's impossible for us to see how a PDO thread could give you the type of benefit you are looking for in between the eyes and we would ask the practitioner suggesting this to show you photos demonstrating the results of this procedure. We believe PDO threads to be riskier because of the potential for side effects than any dermal filler injection.

Answer: Nasal evaluation Hello and thank you for your question. I do not recommend PDO threads in the nose at all. It will not create a long lasting effect in any meaningful way. The best method of dorsal augmentation is with surgery. If you do not want to do surgery, then fillers can be a temporary solution. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon. If you cannot find enough real before and after pictures, then consider continuing your search for a surgeon. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Reish, M.D. FACS Harvard-trained plastic surgeon
