Hello, I heard that PDO threads cause scar tissue so I am wondering if this affects my availability to have a future facelift.

Answer: Since PDO threads are mostly useless, they shouldn't interfere in minilifts. Mini lifts are so great and dramatic improvement that it is usually a waste of time and money to do the PDO threads.

Answer: Will getting a thread lift affect my ability to get a future facelift? Thread lifts do increase scar tissue which does make a future facelift more technically challenging but I have done so in several cases. When you are ready for a facelift be extra careful in choosing an experienced surgeon. I personally don’t offer thread lifts because their results are relatively short lived and the results are modest, but they are appealing in their relative simplicity.

These threads only give minimal improvement, so it may be best just to wait and until you are ready to undergo a lower face and neck lift procedure. In our practice, the goal of the lower face and neck lift is to tighten loose facial and neck skin, tighten loose facial and neck muscles, lift the jowls, and remote fatty deposits in the neck above and below the platysma muscle in addition to a platysma-plasty.
