Always freaks me out when I hear the noise of it going in my cheek and I wonder if I'm actually doing damage to the tissues, thereby making myself age faster long-term
Answer: Does thread lift doing underlying damage to the facial tissue? Thread lifts do have complications including a small risk of permanent dumpling or irregularities and sometimes recovery that is long as a facelift. they do leave scar tissue which makes future surgery more challenging especially for the less experienced surgeon. My biggest issue is that the results last as short as just a few months according to careful analysis that we have done. They should not accelerate the aging process.

Answer: PDO Threads Thank you for your question. The mesh pattern of the PDO Threads serve as the foundation for new collagen production as your skin reacts to the sutures by repairing itself around them. In my opinion they would not cause long term damage to the skin. If you are having concerns, I recommended for you to consult with your doctor about the matter. Hope this helps. All the best.

Answer: Caution Warranted When Evaluating Threadlifting There may be a legitimate support for your concerns. In a recent February, 2019 issue of Aesthetic Surgery Journal, examining threadlifts, researchers found that not only did the results of the threadlift not last significantly more than six months (and were gone by one year), but that complications, such as infection, facial stiffiness, skin dimpling, etc. were experienced by more than one third of the subjects studied. The authors of the study concluded, therefore, ""Given the transient benefit and the complication rate of 34%, we recommend limiting this procedure..." On the other hand, nonsurgical cheek augmentation these days can be simply achieved in a matter of about ten minutes via the use injectable hyaluronic acid-based volumizing fillers, such as Voluma XC and Stylage XXL, with little to no significant downtime and typically engendering an immediate "Wow!" reaction and with results that may last up to two years. Make sure that you consult with a board certified aesthetic physician and be sure to ask to see his/her before and after photos before agreeing to proceed. Best of luck and Happy New Year.

Answer: Do Thread Lifts Do Long term Damage To The Underlying Tissue While some patients find the results satisfactory thread lifts in my opinion unless in conjunction with a S-Lift do not provide the long term results patients want with the procedure. Seek some consultations to discuss options. Anytime you introduce a foreign object into the tissues you can result with scar tissue. Best regards, Michael V. Elam, M.D.
