What are the options to get a more symmetrical face? Especially the cheeks.

Question

I wonder how I can make my face seem more symmetrical. The lips I can fix, but what are the options to increase cheek symmetry? As you see, only one cheek has a dimple, and they enlarge at different height when I smile. I'd rather do Botox and fillers before I do a surgery, but I'd like to know all the options. Please help.

There are a variety of techniques that can be used to correct facial asymmetry. A more temporary approach includes dermal fillers (e.g., Sculptra, Voluma, and Radiesse), while fat grafting, use of permanent fillers (Aquamid, Bellafill ) and facial implants would offer a more permanent solution. To address your concerns I would recommend having an in person consult with a board certified plastic surgeon who specializes in facial aesthetics and contouring.

It is primarily used in the cheeks, and can be used to make the face more symmetrical. Facial symmetry and volume of the cheeks can be created with well-placed fillers (Voluma, Radiesse, Bellafill) and Sculptra. Implants or fat are alternatives. I recommend getting a formal evaluation with a cosmetic dermatologist. Best, Dr. Emer

Dear millaxoxo,unfortunately there is no photo of your cheeks. Generally speaking, cheek asymmetry can be resolved using fillers but that is temporary solution. Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years.  Non smiling photos of your face from the front and side would help in the evaluation.  Following my beauty principles, men look chiseled and handsome with angularity in the cheeks, chin and mandibular angles.  From the photos, your cheeks are flat anteriorly (in the front), the chin is weak as are the mandibular angles and there is excess facial fat in front and below the cheeks.  This combines to create an elongated oval shaped face.  The following procedures would create a more ruggedly handsome face.
Cheek augmentation with cheek implants to add angularity to the cheeks and mid face.  This would be combined with liposuction to reduce the excess facial fat to further define the cheek shape.  Liposuction can be combined to reduce any excess fat to further shape the cheeks and face.
Chin augmentation, using a chin implant, to add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  I have performed many facial shaping procedures, including Chin Augmentation with dermal fillers or silastic chin implants, for over 30 years.  When the chin is weak, this creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy, the lower face looks short, de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a "double chin".  Proper placement of a silastic chin implant adds forward projection to the chin thereby creating harmony and balance to the lower face.  Using the same incision, liposuction can be performed to reduce the fat and further shape the neck.  Excess skin, from below the chin, can also be removed through the same incision.  I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty (requires extensive tissue dissection, bone cuts and placement of metal screws and plates to secure the cut bone segments).  I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone.  In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery.  
Augmentation of the mandibular angles using a dermal filler (jaw implants have too many unwanted side effects IMHO) to add volume, angularity and flare to the jaw line.

Botox will not help structural facial asymmetry.  It can help is the problem is a facial nerve issue.  For cheek fullness and height asymmetry, either fillers or a surgical implant is needed.  For fillers, Voluma, Radiesse, Sculptra and fat injections are all options.  Seek out a consultation with a Board-Certified Facial Plastic surgeon.  Best wishes.

If your posted pictures, unfortunately they are not visible. The cheeks can be augmented and contoured using long acting fillers such as Voluma and Restylane Lyft, injections of your own fat, or the placement of cheek implants. Consult with a surgeon who uses al these techniques because there are advantages and disadvantages of each.
