Is it possible to flatten a relatively high nose bridge from a caucasian type nose to a more 'asian' profile? In this case I'd like the nose bridge to start lower, with a softer instead of sharper profile. I'd also like the tip to be more 'buttony' rather than sharp as it is currently. Thank you for any advice!

Answer: Is it possible to flatten a relatively high nose bridge from a caucasian type to a more 'Asian' profile? Hello, Thank you for your question. Bridge reduction without osteotomy causes lower and wider bridge. It may look like Asian nose. Kindly Regards. Bora Ok, MD - Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeon

Answer: Rhinoplasty Hello and thank you for your question. Your radix can be lowered by rasping the nasal bone. This can lower the overall height of this portion of your nose. You may also benefit from a cephalic rotation of your tip to turn up your tip slightly and soften your nasal tip. Make sure you specifically look at before and after pictures of real patients who have had this surgery performed by your surgeon and not just a computer animation system. You should be able to view numerous pictures of actual patients with noses similar to yours performed by your surgeon. Best wishes and good luck. Richard G. Answer: Rhinoplasty options There are many things thaat can be done to the nose. it is important to communicate well with your prospective surgeon in order to get the results you are looking for. Sometimes patients will request specific things that might not be the "typical" aesthetic appearance but are nonetheless reasonable. Your surgeon should make sure that you understand the consequences of asking for changes that are outside of the norm. In your case most surgeons and patient prefer to have a stronger staighter bridge especially in men. The lower, scooped appearance you are looking for would generally be regarded by most rhinoplasty surgeons as being overly reduced. Be careful in what you are looking for.
