Do men actually need more Botox (20x the ammount of Botox) in comparison to women?

As you probably are aware, neuromodulators will have an impact on muscle activation. The stronger/bigger the muscle, the more neuromodulator you will require for your desired effect. With that being said, generally, men require more units of neurotoxin than women because of anatomical differences--small amount more, but not on a ten-fold scale by any means. A consult with a board certified plastic surgeon will help determine how much neuromodulator you will require.

Yes it is true that men require more botox than women for the same areas but it is usually a little more rather than a lot more.

Thank you for sharing your question.  Men often do require more Botox then women for the same level of muscle paralysis as their musculature does tend to be thicker/heavier.  This often means a couple of additional units and not 20x.  I would see an ASPS board certified plastic surgeon in consultation to discuss in person what treatment works best for you. 

In general men do need higher doses of Botox than women. This is usually because their muscles are stronger. It has nothing to do with the thickness of the skin. However, they do not need 20 times the amount when compared to women. Botox for men is affordable, and great results can be achieved. Thanks for the question.Yes, men need more Botox than women on average due to genetic differences in the muscle mass of the average male vs average female. For example, in the glabella, I sometimes do 15-20 units in a female but 20-25 units in a male. Sometimes the amount of Botox is 50% more for a male than a female but never 20x the amount. Even in your example, if the female received 10 units and the male got 30, that's 3x or 20 more units but not 20x. For a male patient trying to control the glabella (area between the brows), forehead (horizontal lines) and Crow's feet (crinkles with smiling around eyes), you can expect 40-60 units to be required.Hope this helps.

The amount of botox needed depends on how muscular someone's face is. Because men tend to have more muscular faces, they often require higher doses of Botox (but not 20x). This is a generalization as some women have very muscular facial areas and may therefore need more botox than some men. Yes, it's true that men may require a slightly higher dose of Botox but it's a little more Botox and not 20x as much. 

While men don't require 20 times the amount as women. Men typically have stronger bigger muscles than women and often need a little larger dose to get the same effect as a women would achieve from as lesser dose. Of course there are many exceptions to this generalization.

While it is true that men have more muscle mass and thus "stronger" muscle and, therefore, need more units of neuromodulator, including Botox and Dysport, per area, the increased amount is not 20x. For example, I might start at 10 units of Botox on each side of crows feet in a woman and 15 units on each side in a man and titrate up as needed. Having said this, I often start at 12 or 15 units in a woman if I see robust muscle activity there. 

In general men require more botox than women because men tend to have more muscle mass. With that said, it is unlikely that men will require 20x the amount of botox used to treat women to achieve the same desired outcome. I  recommend an in-person consultation with an experienced provider to determine the amount of botox necessary to achieve the reduction in wrinkles that you want.
