I had Masseter Botox for the first time to face slim and help with teeth grinding. I'm not sure how many units. It has been about a month and a half since then, and my jaw muscles have been so sore that I cannot open my mouth wide and hurts to chew. I'm not sure if it means the Botox is wearing off maybe?

Answer: Botox for masseter Botox for masseter should not make other jaw muscles sore. The masseter is not one of the jaw opening muscles and even if it gets tender, it should not affect mouth opening. You need to be tested for night grinding. I always do a home sleep test for patients to check for grinding and other sleep disorders that are closely related to each other. Injecting the masseter is only a temporary relief for grinding but is not a defenitive treatment.
