My chin is short, undefined, and dimpled. The dimple in my chin makes the skin lack smoothness, firmness, and shape. It is like a small round ball is inside my chin. I am aware botox can smooth out and reform/reshape my chin but I am looking for a permanent surgical solution. I have done a lot of research of the sliding genioplasy. I have also extensively looked at implants. I have heard both procedures can be done together. I would appreciate any input and advice on what action should be taken.
Answer: Chin implant candidate for weak chin profile Chin implants are not going to create a V-line, with the current mandible that is present. chin implants are designed to augment the chin forward, which augments the current anatomy. Chin implants are manufactured in a large array of sizes and shapes which is best determined at the time the examination/consultation, since both the chin and the implants are 3-dimensional structures. For more information about chin implants and diagrams of the implants and many before and after results, please see the video and the link below

Answer: Longer chin Thank you for your question and for sharing photos. Based on your photos and the pictures of what you desire, I think a sliding genioplasty is your best option. Botox can smooth some of that "puckering" of your chin that you show in a few pictures, it can weakend the mentalis muscle that is contributing to that strain. However, it cannot change the shape of the chin. Implants can be used to help project the chin, but it is difficult to make a big difference in the height. A sliding genioplasty can give increased projection and/or height. There are other surgeries that can be done to create the V line you show as well. Go to a craniomaxillofacial trained surgeon for a full evaluation and explanation of the options available to you. Best of luck Dr Rodman

Answer: Chin shape and V line With a wider jaw near the ear/angle of jaw; it is necessary to consider the height of the chin and the taper to achieve your goal. Therefore a Genioplasty is the best choice since implants cannot properly change the chin height, nor create the continuous contour from the angle of the jaw. One can alter the width of the angle in a true V-line approach but further analysis and discussion of your goal is necessary. Talk to a Maxillofacial surgeon

Answer: How to get a long v-line chin? Hi, I have performed many facial shaping procedures using dermal fillers, facial implants (cheek, chin), liposuction and/or facelifts for over 30 years. From the photos, your cheeks are very flat in the front, there is excess fat below and in front of the cheeks and the chin is weak. These combine to create an elongated, rectangularly shaped face. Following the beauty principles outlined in my book on face and body beauty, women look the most feminine, youthful and attractive with heart shaped faces. Heart shaped faces have cheeks that are full and round in the front. Cheek augmentation with a dermal filler or using cheek implants for a permanent enhancement will create full, round cheeks that will feminize the entire face. Liposuction can reduce the excess fat and further shape the cheeks. I have performed many Chin Augmentations using chin implants for over 30 years. From the photos, your chin is weak. A weak chin creates an imbalance making the nose appear larger, the mid face top heavy and the lower face look short that de-emphasizes the lips and allows early formation of a double chin. Chin augmentation using a chin implant will add projection to the chin creating harmony and balance to the lower face. I have found that placement of a silastic chin implant, through a small curved incision under the chin (also allows excess skin removal) to be very safe, quick, highly effective and far less invasive than a sliding genioplasty. I perform chin implant surgery in 30 minutes or less, often using a local anesthetic alone. In my opinion, you are a good candidate for chin implant surgery. Hope this helps.
