How long after surgery (TT,BL) do you have to wait until you can take a shower?

As always, you should follow your plastic surgeon's recommendations.  In my practice, I allow patients to shower the day following their procedure as long as they feel up to it. You should always have someone with you the first time you shower as you may feel faint or unsteady following your surgery.Best of luck,

Thank you for your question.  As each surgeon has their own unique set of post op instructions, you may wish to discuss this with your surgeon.  That being said, typically we will tell patients that they may take quick showers after the tape has been removed from their BBL, which often times is the first three days. I typically let my patients shower 2 days after surgery.  I see them one day after surgery to make sure everything ok and give them the go-ahead.

This question is best answered by your surgeon as opinions may vary. I generally will advise patients they can take a shower 48 hours after surgery. Soaking in a bath will have to wait however for about six weeks.

I ask my patients to take their first  good shower 24 hours after the surgery, rubbing soap  over the sterile strips but keeping them in their place and being very carefull with   the drain.For me is essential to keep the area clean.

Hello mmaddief2,Thank you for your question. Typically it is safe to shower 24 hours after the drains are removed. The drains typically stay in place about 2 weeks post surgery. Every surgeon has a different post operative protocol based on years of experience and regulations that he/she feels work well. Follow the guidelines of your doctor and if any questions always talk to him/ her first.Best of luck

plastic surgeon, who should be certified by the American Board of Plastic
Surgery and ideally a member of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic
