Is it laugh lines and how to treat it? (Photo)

Hi! I have deep uneven lines around my mouth that are only seen in a certain lighting ( I am 28). I am not sure if it's laugh lines because of its shape, it looks like it's some volume loss in that area. What would my options to treat it? Thank you!

Your laugh lines are minimal. The reason that you see them more in some lighting is because you facial contours create shadows and then the lines show more, especially if the light is from above or below the face, but it does not mean they are that deep. Other areas that may more noticeable those lines are the lack of volume on the cheek then the line from the nose toward the sides of the mouth may look deeper. There are several hyaluronic acid fillers, like Juvederm Volbella, Restylane or Belotero, than can be used to treat them.

Hi @name1234. Thank you for sharing your photos. You have very minimal laugh lines, but if they are bothersome you can correct them with a hyaluronic acid based dermal filler. Restylane Defyne and Refyne both work great in this area. Best of luck, Dr. Nima!

The laugh lines around your mouth do not appear to be very bad. If and when they get worse, you can fill them...either with hyaluronic acid fillers...or even better, with fat transfer as it is permanent and has a positive effect on the overlying skin.

You have aging but its from the area above in the cheeks/midface.  Its making you look like you have folds.  I suggest you see a cosmetic dermatologist with experience in facial contouring. Hello.  Regardless of your age, if these lines bother you, dermal fillers are an option.  They can soften the contour between the mouth and cheek to camouflage those lines.  We prefer Restylane, Radiesse or Perlane, but there are multiple options that may accomplish your goals. You have very minimal laugh lines around the corners of your mouth. However, if they bother you and you want to use a filler to correct them, hyaluronic acid fillers such as Restylane or Juvederm are a great option to use in the area. I would recommend you make and appointment with a board certified dermatologist or plastic surgeon who is experienced in dermal fillers for a consult.

Hi, based upon the attached photos the lines you mention are nasaolabial folds and the beginning of "jowls".  I noticed from the photo that the cheeks are quite flat anteriorly(in the front).  This allows the facial tissues to sag towards the nose, creating the nasolabial folds, as well as towards the mouth creating the "jowls" or "marionette" lines.  These folds can be soften using a dermal filler and the cheeks can be shaped using either a dermal filler (I prefer Perlane) or cheek implants for a permanent enhancement.  Be careful to have the implants or the filler placed in the front and not along the outside of the cheeks (which is where I have seen patients get Voluma) as this will "not" lift soft tissues but will broaden the face which is not a feminine look. You appear to be a good candidate for treatment with fillers.  Avoid use of blood thinning medicines such as advil, motrin and aspirin for a 5-10 day period before your treatment to reduce the likelihood of bruising.  Enjoy your results.  ATB,  Dr. Perlman
