8 weeks ago got Kybella and Juvederm same day. 1 syringe of Juvederm in lower chin and 1 vial of Kybella in neck. Now 2 months later and 23 doctor visits later no one has an answer. My lymph nodes are now swollen, red rash that won’t go away, skin peeling, dizzy, falling over, fever, vision problems. I've been to every dr speciality possible abc they get scared when I tell them Kybella because 99% of drs have no idea what it is or how to help me. my face has been swollen 3 times normal Size
Answer: That's Kybella if someone told me they could inject a medication that destroyed tissue and this would be used to break down fat cells for aesthetic reasons I would tell him they're crazy and they shouldn't do it. I'm not a fan of this treatment. Numerous patients have reported terrible side effects. I would say it is very important to the point of even being an obligation to make sure this is reported to Alargan who sells this product. After the injection is made there's no way to reverse it's effects. Anything injected into tissues will end up in lymph nodes by default. That's simply how the body works. If injected and a salivary gland then most likely that salivary gland would either be destroyed or partially destroyed. It is highly unlikely they injected in your salivary gland's but certainly not impossible. There are so many salivary gland's and the main ones are the parotid gland's which are very large compared to the ones in the chin region that you wouldn't notice a change in saliva production. I can't speak on behalf of your other symptoms. You pretty much figured out that no doctor is going to be able to give you a straight up answer since there really aren't any What you can do is share your experience with the real self community so others can make a better informed decisions. I want to the training for injecting this product and that was all I had to hear to know I should never inject this into a patient of mine. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Most likely with enough time things will settle down and you'll get back to your old self. It is important to rule out coexisting conditions. Follow up with your provider so here she knows what happened after this treatment. Ask them to contact Alargan to fill out an incident report so that the company is aware of your situation. Follow up with your primary care doctor to make sure there aren't other conditions going on. Best, Mats Hagstrom MD

Answer: Have you contacted Allergan directly? The first thing I would do is tell you to get on the phone with Allergan and speak to their nurses and physicians. I once had a patient come to me with a problem who had been to "10 other doctors with no answers". It took awhile but with calls and the help of their physicians who are the ones who work with the FDA, we were able to get her resolved. Now, she didn't have Juvederm or Kybella, but my point is the same. Contact Allergan and speak directly to the nurses and doctors who develop these products. They will get you to the right people and ask you the right questions. "This answer has been solicited without seeing this patient and cannot be held as true medical advice, but only opinion. Seek in-person treatment with a trained medical professional for appropriate care."
